    Thomas de Weerd specialises in intellectual property, IT / outsourcing and data protection matters. In his daily practice Thomas advises a wide variety of domestic and international clients on non-contentious intellectual property and IT related matters, technology-related related transactions, technology contracts and data protection. He has experience as an in-house counsel for technology and internet companies.

    Thomas is a board member of the Netherlands Association for Information Technology and Law (NVvIR), and a member of INTA and the Licensing Executives Society (LES). The Thomas is the co-author of the book Information Technology Agreements (Overeenkomsten inzake Informatietechnologie) and is the editor of the Intellectual Property chapter of Kluwer's Dutch legal templates (Kluwer Modellen voor de Rechtspraktijk).

The proposed partnership will make Heineken Sligro’s number one partner for beer and cider. It is intended to be long-term partnership for an initial period of 15 years. Parties aim to complete the transaction later this year.

The transaction is waiting for approval from amongst others of the European Commission, Federal Trade Commission (US), CFIUS and the Chinese Ministry of Trade.

      Houthoff Buruma advised JAC Capital, a subsidiary of JIC Capital - a Chinese state-owned investment company, as a lead counsel on the $ 1.8 billion acquisition of the RF Power Business (radio frequency power amplifiers), from NXP Semiconductors, a Dutch semiconductor manufacturer and one of the semiconductor sales leaders worldwide. The transaction is waiting for their approval of The European Commission, The Federal Trade Commission (US) and Chinese Ministry of Trade.

Houthoff Buruma advised Wereldhave, a Dutch listed real estate investment company with commercial property of around € 3.3 billion, on the € 730 million acquisition of 9 shopping centers in the Netherlands from its French competitor Klépierre. The shopping centres were part of Corio's portfolio and were recently taken over by Klépierre. Wereldhave is financing the deal by issuing up to 5.25 million new shares. In addition, existing credit facilities will be evaluated. The transaction is expected to close before the end of 2015.

Houthoff Buruma advised CBRE Global Investors in cooperation with Cushman & Wakefield.
