Houthoff Buruma and China Development Bank organized Investing in the Netherlands Summit 2017 in Qingdao China
On 10 April 2017, together with China Development Bank, Houthoff Buruma organized Investing in the Netherlands Summit 2017 at Qingdao, China, with support from Royal Netherlands Embassy in China, Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency ("NFIA"), Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China ("MOFCOM Beijing") and Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Commerce ("MOFCOM Qingdao"). The topic of the Summit was "Investing in the Netherlands and Exploring New Opportunities".
Firstly, André Driessen, Deputy Ambassador at Royal Netherlands Embassy in China and Chunyu Xianli, Deputy Director-General of MOFCOM Qingdao gave opening speeches, respectively on behalf of Dutch party and Chinese party. Secondly, Xu Dansong, Director of Comprehensive Department of Investment Promotion Agency of MOFCOM Beijing spoke about the strategy on outbound investment from China and cooperation between China and the Netherlands, who gave a relatively positive attitude on the long-term development of the outbound investment from China. Furthermore, Jeroen Nijland, Head of NFIA also talked about why the Netherlands was a good place for Chinese companies' outbound investment and Tang Li, Head of China Development Bank Dutch Team, made a introduction on the supportive financing policy for Chinese companies' overseas investment.
On behalf of Houthoff Buruma, Michiel Wesseling, Head of China Team provided a presentation on legal and tax issues when doing business in the Netherlands, from the perspectives of starting new business, tax structuring and acquisitions in the Netherlands.
84 participants coming from the high level of 55 Chinese companies including most large and reputable companies in Qingdao City Like Haier Group, Hisense Group, Port of Qingdao etc. attended the Summit.
