They assisted numerous Latin American companies in respect of establishing and optimizing their international corporate and tax structure and serve as designated point of contact for Dutch companies looking to invest in Latin America. Houthoff Buruma works closely with leading law firms in the relevant jurisdictions in order to provide a seamless service for complex international (restructuring) projects and cross border transactions.The members of the Latin America desk organize client seminars to enhance the commercial interchange between the Latin American countries and The Netherlands on a regular basis, often in concert with local authorities, institutions and professional services firms.

Houthoff Buruma advised Petrobras Global Finance B.V., a wholly owned subsidiary of Petróleo Brasiliero S.A. - in respect of its most recent multi-tranche SEC-registered offering of global notes announced March 2014 in the amount of US$ 8,5 billion, also to be listed on the NYSE.
Houthoff Buruma advised Petrobras Global Finance B.V., a wholly owned subsidiary of Petróleo Brasiliero S.A. - Petrobras in respect of its €/£ 3,8 billion global notes offering in December 2013/January 2014. The notes are listed at the Luxembourg stock exchange. The underwriters were advised by Shearman & Sterling LLP.
Houthoff Buruma advised Petroandina and Pluspetrol on the acquisition of Harvest-Vinccler Dutch Holding B.V. from Harvest Natural Resources, for a consideration of $ 400 million. The acquisition consists of two separate transactions and involves all of Harvest Natural Resources’ oil and gas interests in Venezuela.
Houthoff Buruma advised the leading Brazilian investment bank BTG Pactual (BTGP) on its October 10, 2013 listing at NYSE Euronext in Amsterdam. BTG Pactual is one of the largest independent investment banks in the emerging markets and is mainly active in Latin America.
Houthoff Buruma advised Petrobras International Braspetro B.V. on the sale of its E&P stake in Colombia to Perenco Colombia Limited for USD 380 million.
Houthoff Buruma advised Petrobras on the sale of a 50% stake in Petrobras Oil & Gas BV, a company controlling Petrobras’ E&P operations in Africa, to Brazil's BTG Pactual for $1.53 billion.
Setting up Petrobras centre of worldwide financing activities, Petrobras Global Finance. The process included obtaining a ruling from the Dutch Central Bank and register with the US SEC. The transaction further included an equity financing of US$ 14.8 billion.
Houthoff Buruma advised Petrobras Global Finance B.V., a wholly owned subsidiary of Petróleo Brasileiro S.A., on the € 2.5 billion global bond offering and listing on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange.
Advised Petrobras Global Finance on the issuance of Global Notes in the international capital markets in the amount of US$ 11 billion. The transaction was executed in one day, with a demand of approximately US$ 42 billion as a result of more than 2,000 orders. Cleary Gottlieb advised on the US aspects. This deal is the largest emerging market USD bond offering ever and the 2nd largest USD bond offering this year.
Houthoff Buruma advised on the listing of BTG Pactual on NYSE Euronext, as part of BTG Pactual's IPO and listing of Units both in São Paulo and Amsterdam. BTG Pactual is the largest investment bank in Brazil and this IPO is the largest IPO that has occurred globally this year to date. Houthoff worked on this deal with international counsel Skadden Arps (New York and Sao Paulo) and Brazil counsel Machado Meyer.
Houthoff Buruma advised Brastec Technologies S.A. on the acquisition of 100% stake in the Dutch company SAS. Brastec Technologies is a Brazilian-based engineering and equipment producer for flexible pipe and cable manufacturing and SAS is a leading provider of high quality equipment for the offshore market. The revenues of Brastec, already projected to double this year, is expected quadruple after the acquisition, exceeding BRL 300 million in 2012. Brastec hereby becomes a Brazilian multinational with a global reach, well positioned to meet the world´s demand for both onshore and offshore equipment.
Houthoff Buruma advised on acquisition of a stake in the Fenix ferro nickel project of HudBay Minerals Inc. (a Canadian mining company listed on Toronto and New York Stock Exchange) by private equity investor Solway.
