Thomas specialises both in litigation and in arbitrations under the auspices of, amongst others, the ICC, ICSID, TAMARA, DIAC, CEPANI and the NAI. He has extensive experience in complex disputes that often have an international dimension. In view of his international practice, Thomas has worked at Houthoff's offices in London and New York.

He coaches Leiden University's Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court Competition team, and acts as an arbitrator during the competition. Thomas also regularly acts as a secretary in arbitrations. In addition, he lectures on national and international arbitration at institutes such as the T.M.C. Asser Institute, and publishes on arbitration in the Tijdschrift voor Arbitrage and Maandblad voor Vermogensrecht journals.
