Alexander specialises in international arbitration, with a particular focus on investor-state dispute settlement. He advises both states and investors in relation to UNCITRAL and ICSID arbitration proceedings involving sovereign entities. Alexander also advises on international commercial arbitration proceedings involving private entities, including ICC proceedings. He coaches the Leiden University team competing in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court. Alexander was previously a judicial clerk to Judges Orie (Presiding), Mloto and Flügge in Trial Chamber I of the United Nations ICTY (Prosecutor v. Ratko Mladić). He has served as an assistant editor of the Leiden Journal of International Law. Alexander has a business background, having previously worked in the insurance and accounting industries. 

Alexander is admitted as a Lawyer of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Australia. He is not admitted to practice in the Netherlands and does not advise on Dutch law.
