Gerhard is involved in international and cross-border restructuring and insolvency.He advises and represents both creditors (banks, investment funds and credit insurers) and domestic and foreign bankruptcy trustees in relation to restructuring and liquidations. Gerhard also represents clients in disputes that arise from crisis situations. In recent years, his work has focused mainly on the financial and energy sectors.

Gerhard is acting on behalf of the liquidator of Fairfield Sentry, a feeder fund of BLMIS, in proceedings aimed at recovery of the fund's loss from liable third parties. He is also acting in a dispute between majority shareholders in a Dutch industrial company and for a credit insurer in connection with the bankruptcy of OW Bunker. In addition, he is assisting a bondholder committee in connection with the insolvency proceedings concerning Oi S.A., a large Brazilian telecom company.
Gerhard is a member of the Dutch Association of Insolvency Practitioners (INSOLAD), INSOL International, the International Insolvency Institute and the International Bar Association (Insolvency Section). He regularly lectures and publishes on insolvency law and is chair of the insolvency law advisory committee of the Netherlands Bar Association.
