Jan Pieter Uittenbroek

Jan Pieter focuses mainly on general insurance law and insurance sector regulation. He specialises in matters related to insurers and investment-linked insurance, and on financial regulatory legislation. This involves both litigating and advising, including on matters concerning the Dutch regulators (the AFM and DNB). Jan Pieter also focuses on matters related to insolvency and restructuring, and he advises clients on a wide range of insolvency-related issues.
Jan Pieter is also regularly appointed as a bankruptcy trustee. Jan Pieter is a member of the editorial team of the Tijdschrift Aansprakelijkheids- en Verzekeringsrecht journal, and he takes part in the Houthoff Incubator Programme, a project offering promising start-ups reduced-rate legal advice.

Houthoff represented Nationale Nederlanden (NN) in proceedings that were brought by the foundation Vereniging Woekerpolis.nl in relation to investment-linked insurance offered by NN. The court ruled that generally speaking NN had provided sufficient information on costs and premiums.
Houthoff represented Eli Global, LLC in the acquisition of all the outstanding shares in the Dutch life insurance company Nederlandsche Algemeene Maatschappij van Levensverzekering Conservatrix N.V.
