Jori focuses on Dutch and EU competition law. He specialises in merger control proceedings, regulated markets, State aid and cases concerning cartels and abuse of dominance.  Jori is a member of the Dutch Association of Competition Law and publishes on Dutch and EU competition law.

  • Houthoff advised Sligro Food Group N.V. with the proposed acquisition of the shares in Exploitatiemaatschappij Wheere B.V. by Sligro Food Group Nederland B.V. This will include the activities of Vroegop Ruhe & Co B.V., consisting of food wholesaler De Kweker, Vroegop AGF and freight company L.A.J. Duncker.
  • Houthoff advised Navitas Capital on the sale and transfer of Partou to KidsFoundation. The owner of KidsFoundation – the English private equity firm Onex – will become the new owner of Partou, together with the Dutch private equity firm Waterland. Partou and KidsFoundation both provide child and toddler care services in the Netherlands, including day care, after-school care and pre-school/early childhood education facilities. They operate several child care centres. Partou and KidsFoundation will jointly provide day care services to approximately 60,000 children in the Netherlands. Together, they will employ 8,000 employees and operate 650 child day care centres throughout the Netherlands. This will give Partou and KidsFoundation a market share of 8% in the child care services business. On 4 April 2019, Partou and KidsFoundation informed the competition authorities and their respective works councils and relevant trade unions of the transaction.
  • Houthoff advised the shareholders (Waterland Private Equity and management) on the sale of the Infradata group to IK Investment Partners
  • Houthoff advised the sellers on the sale of Mendix to Siemens. Mendix was founded in Rotterdam (2005) by, amongst others, Derek Roos and Derckjan Kruit and offers a low-code software platform for the development and implementation of applications. 
  • Houthoff represented Simadan in the sale of its businesses to Parcom Capital and John Swire & Sons. Parcom Capital will acquire the business Noba, supplier of fat products for the animal feed industry, and Rotie, collector and processor of used cooking oil and energy-rich organic waste. John Swire & Sons will acquire Biodiesel Amsterdam, a producer of second generation biodiesel from used cooking oil and animal fat, Tankstorage Amsterdam, a tank storage facility, and Cleaning & Services Amsterdam, a cleaning terminal for (bulk) trucks. The transactions are subject to Dutch and UK antitrust clearance.

  • Houthoff represented Sligro Food Group in the strategic, long-term partnership with Heineken Netherlands for beer and cider logistics in the Netherlands, and the sale of other parts of the Heineken beverages wholesaler to Sligro Food Group. The partnership makes Heineken Sligro’s number one partner for beer and cider.

  • Houthoff advised Dümmen Orange on the acquisition of the business of Grow-Tech LLC, a world wide developer and manufacturer of grow plugs and microgreen growing media.
  • Houthoff advised Media Markt – Saturn on the establishment of a joint venture with Talpa, Juke Nederland B.V. Juke has launched an online on-demand music streaming service offering unlimited access to songs, playlists and radio content.
