William specialises in cross-border M&A transactions. He assists both strategic investors and investment companies in M&A transactions. William advises clients on, among other things, setting up transaction structures. He also assists clients in drafting and negotiating transaction documents.

  • Houthoff represented Active Capital Company in the sale of FTNON, a Netherlands-based manufacturer of food processing equipment specialized for the fresh cut and thermal treatment of fruit and vegetables, to JBT Corporation, a US-based leading global technology solutions provider to high-value segments of the food processing and air transportation industries. FTNON's USA and China based subsidiaries were, as part of this transaction, sold directly to JBT.

  • Houthoff advised BGI Genomics Co., Ltd. on all Dutch-law aspects in connection with its successful IPO at the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. BGI is a leading gene sequencing firm, offering a wide portfolio of genetic testing products across major diseases, enabling medical providers and patients worldwide to realise the promise of genomics-based diagnostics and personalised healthcare.
  • Houthoff advised Dümmen Orange on the acquisition of the Phalaenopsis young plant business of SOGO Team Co. Ltd. SOGO is a Phalaenopsis young plant supplier located in Taiwan delivering plants to Europe, the Americas, Asia, Oceania and Africa employing around 250 workers.
  • Houthoff advised Qingdao Port International (QPI) on the establishment of a joint venture with APM Terminals (part of the Maersk group). Through the joint venture QPI acquires indirectly 9.9% in both of a reefer terminal and a container terminal at the port of Vado Ligure in Italy. QPI is listed in Hong Kong. The joint venture marks QPI’s first step in its expansion into the overseas terminal business.
