Arno specialises in the acquisition and development financing of commercial real estate, the purchase and sale of commercial real estate (both single asset and portfolios) and the property law (re)structuring of commercial real estate. Arno has advised clients on an array of transactions, including the sale and transfer of Project Sonate in the city center of The Hague (residential towers) and the acquisition of the ONE20 office building in Amsterdam. He also played a role in the purchase financing of Magna Group's new HQ in Waalwijk.

He is a member of the Royal Dutch Association of Civil-law Notaries (KNB), the Association of Young Candidate Civil-law Notaries in Amsterdam (Jonge Kandidaten Amsterdam) and FRESH Professionals.

  • Assisted the Salvation Army in setting up the investment fund 'Stichting Leger des Heils WoonVermogen' for construction projects that make a social impact. The 'Stichting Leger des Heils WoonVermogen' is funded by private investors and aims to build 250 residences for vulnerable people in the coming years.
  • Advised H2 Equity Partners on the sale of Reparenco, a Dutch paper and recycling business, to Smurfit Kappa Group plc for a cash consideration of approximately €460 million. Smurfit Kappa Group plc is one of the world's largest integrated manufacturers of paper-based packaging products with operations in Europe and the Americas.

  • Advised, jointly with Linklaters LLP, the Public Investment Fund (PIF), which, together with Credit Agricole Assurances, Colonoy Northstar, Amundi and others, is acquiring a majority stake in AccorInvest. AccorHotels is selling a 55% stake in AccorInvest for an amount of EUR 4.4 billion. Houthoff advised the Public Investment Fund (PIF) on the Dutch part of the acquisition.

  • Advised on the acquisition of the shares in the IEF portfolio by a consortium led by CBRE Global Investors (three institutional investors from the Netherlands, plus CBRE Dutch Retail Fund). IEF is a joint venture formed by Bouwfonds Investment Management and IEF Capital. The portfolio consists of 31 Dutch retail properties (mostly flagship stores), including the well-known Dutch retail chains HEMA and de Bijenkorf.
  • Advised GLL Real Estate Partners GmbH on the sale and transfer of the 'Zuiderhof II' office building, located near the Amsterdam South Axis.
