Deadline for final calculation of NOW 2 is approaching
10 March 2022

The UWV writes on its website that 51 per cent of employers still need to apply for a final calculation for the 2nd period of the Temporary Emergency Bridging Measure for Sustained Employment (Tijdelijke Noodmaatregel Overbrugging voor Werkbehoud, NOW 2). NOW 2 ran from June to September 2020.

The application for and receipt of the advance payment was the first step in the process. In the final calculation the wage bill in the 2nd NOW period and the actual turnover loss will be used to calculate what compensation employers are actually entitled to receive. If an employer does not submit the application, the UWV cannot make the final calculation and the full advance must be repaid.

Employers who have received an advance payment exceeding EUR 20,000 also require a third-party statement, for example from their bookkeeper. If the advance payment has exceeded EUR 100,000, an auditor’s opinion is required.

Employers have until Thursday 31 March 2022 to provide details of their definitive turnover loss.

As with the final settlement for NOW 1, it is possible to obtain an extension of fourteen weeks, but it is important that you apply for such an extension by 31 March at the latest, using the form on the UWV website.

More information on applying for the final settlement for NOW 2 can be found on the UWV website (only in Dutch).
