Will floating cities be our future?

Will we soon be moving from land to water? When a home is afloat rather than built on land, problems arise. That is a real shame, as floating neighbourhoods would solve the lack of space in urban areas. There are virtually no technical obstacles, only legal ones.

In her University of the Netherlands contribution (only available in Dutch), professor in property law and Houthoff adviser Pernille van der Plank explains the advantages of living on the water and the issues to be resolved to enable floating architecture to be scaled up.
