Hans specialises in liability law. He also focuses on arbitration, assisting and advising clients in international arbitration cases. He is involved in the enforcement of arbitral awards through the Dutch courts. He has a particular interest in insurance law, insolvency law and statistics.
The subject of his master's thesis was the application of possessor's liability in the sharing economy. In 2019, his thesis was awarded the Molengraaff Thesis Prize. His thesis was also awarded the national Jan Brouwer Thesis Prize, organised by the Royal Dutch Society for the Sciences (Koninklijke Hollandsche Maatschappij der Wetenschappen).
