Houthoff appoints four new partners

Houthoff appointed Marloes Brans, Rick Cornelissen, Dolf de Jong and Thomas Stouten as partners as from 1 January 2020.

Marloes Brans (1978) is Head of Climate Change at Houthoff and specialises in environmental law and planning law. She has extensive experience in litigating and advising on complex permit and enforcement issues, large-scale project development and European environmental laws and regulations. She regularly negotiates with the authorities within this context. Marloes also heads the Public Law team in M&A and transactions. Marloes is the Chair of Lex Mundi's Environmental Practice Group, a deputy judge in the administrative law section of the District Court of Central Netherlands, a board member of the Dutch Construction Lawyers Association and a member of the Reflection Committee on the sample texts for the new Environment and Planning Act of the VNG (the Association of Netherlands Municipalities).

Rick Cornelissen (1975) works within the Litigation & Arbitration practice group and specialises in Competition Litigation (private enforcement of competition law) with a clear focus on cartel damages claims. He also advises on and litigates competition law and other contractual disputes in civil proceedings. Rick has extensive experience in advising on, negotiating and litigating commercial contracts, particularly with regard to distribution, franchise, agency and e-commerce. Rick teaches at the Grotius Academie and regularly publishes and lectures on competition litigation at various national and international conferences and events.

Dolf de Jong (1983) specialises in property law, contract law and notarial law. He advises clients on project development, the sale and purchase of real estate, entering into partnerships, property law structuring, real estate financing, and circular applications in the construction industry. Dolf has worked with Houthoff for his entire career.

Thomas Stouten (1983) specialises in international arbitration under the auspices of the ICC, LCIA, DIAC, UNCITRAL, ICSID, UNUM, and NAI as well as litigation, including enforcement and setting-aside proceedings for arbitral awards. He has extensive experience in complex disputes that often have an international dimension. Because of his international practice, Thomas has worked in Houthoff's offices in London and New York, where he coordinated several international dispute resolution processes.
