Houthoff recruits former chief public prosecutor Bloos as adviser

1 June 2021

On 1 June, Marianne Bloos started her role as Of Counsel in Houthoff's Investigations & Public Enforcement practice.

Marianne has an extensive track record at the Public Prosecution Service, where she headed the National Office for Serious Fraud, Environmental Crime and Asset Confiscation as chief public prosecutor. In that role, she was responsible for combating financial and economic crime, including all large fraud investigations carried out during those years in the Netherlands. She supervised extensive and complex investigations, criminal cases brought before the court and negotiated with numerous large companies and their directors on settlements with the Public Prosecution Service. Marianne also worked closely with supervisors and other relevant authorities in various sectors.

"The results Marianne achieved as chief public prosecutor are impressive and have had a major impact on the development of combating fraud in the Netherlands. Her special knowledge and experience are invaluable to clients who, in some form or other, are dealing with investigation and law enforcement authorities or supervisory authorities," says Edward de Bock, Managing Partner at Houthoff.

Growing practice

Houthoff expects a further growth of the Investigations & Public Enforcement practice and the Health, Safety & Environment practice. Marianne will play a key part in this. Vincent Affourtit, partner and head of Houthoff's Investigations & Public Enforcement practice: "Marianne's arrival strengthens Houthoff's Investigations & Public Enforcement practice group. In our practice, we come across many cases in which her extraordinary experience and strategic vision can be of great value to our clients. We are very happy that Marianne is joining our team."
