On 10 June, Jan Frans de Groot was nominated by the cabinet as state councillor for the Administrative Jurisdiction Division of the Council of State. The royal appointment becomes effective on 1 January 2023. We are very proud and warmly congratulate Jan Frans on this appointment. Jan Frans will have been with our firm for almost 27 years when he starts with this new challenge.

Due to state councillors leaving and the new Environment and Planning Act (Omgevingswet) coming into force in 2023, there was room for new state councillors with an extensive track record in administrative law and administrative jurisdiction. Apart from Jan Frans de Groot, professor of administrative law Jurgen de Poorter, lawyer Hans Besselink and senior civil servant Hanneke Schipper-Spanninga were also submitted for nomination to His Majesty King Willem-Alexander.
