Paul is gespecialiseerd in complexe grensoverschrijdende geschillen. Zijn praktijk richt zich onder meer op internationale massavorderingen (collectieve acties onder de WAMCA), mededingingsrechtelijke follow-on litigation, grensoverschrijdende incassowerkzaamheden en de opsporing van vermogensbestanddelen. Paul is bijzonder vaardig in het uitdenken van de internationale strategie in zaken waarbij mogelijk meerdere rechters bevoegd zouden kunnen zijn en in het buitenland al een parallelle procedure loopt. In dat kader adviseert hij over bevoegdheidsincidenten, grensoverschrijdende discovery, beslaglegging, het inroepen van arbitrageclausules en de tenuitvoerlegging van buitenlandse vonnissen. Paul heeft verschillende grote bedrijven en conglomeraten met succes bijgestaan bij de Nederlandse rechter, vaak in geschillen met meerdere partijen waarbij een goede samenwerking met de andere advocaten onontbeerlijk is. Ook Houthoffs Corporate/M&A-, Finance- en Restructuring & Insolvency-teams weten Paul te vinden voor internationaal privaatrechtrechtelijk advies bij transacties.

Paul verzorgt cursussen internationaal privaatrecht voor de rechterlijke macht en de Grotius Academie. Hij geeft daarnaast regelmatig gastcolleges aan de Universiteit Utrecht en Tilburg University. Paul publiceert over burgerlijk procesrecht en internationaal privaatrecht. Van 2007 tot 2011 heeft hij promotieonderzoek verricht aan Tilburg University. Paul is actief lid van de International Bar Association (IBA), de American Bar Association (ABA), de International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA) en de Nederlandse Vereniging voor Procesrecht (NVvP).

    Advised an ad hoc group of secured lenders to Tupperware Brands Corporation who successfully completed the acquisition of certain key assets of the Tupperware Group, including global rights to the Tupperware brand name and related intellectual property as well as operations in core geographic markets. Operations in these global core markets will continue uninterrupted and customers will be able to purchase products from independent Tupperware sales consultants, Tupperware ecommerce sites and retail partners.

    Represented Fortenova Group, the largest food producer and retailer in South-Eastern Europe with an annual turnover of EUR 5 billion and 47.500 employees, in the implementation of a comprehensive restructuring resulting from the presence of sanctioned debt and equity holders in its capital structure and cross-border litigation in connection therewith.
