Christiaan leads Houthoff’s Insolvency & Restructuring practice. He assists clients who are confronted with financial difficulties, either as a creditor or as the debtor. Christiaan also acts as court appointed fiduciary in insolvency matters (e.g. administrator in suspension of payments or trustee in bankruptcy). Christiaan has been involved in many large insolvency and restructuring matters in the Dutch market, like for instance Lehman, Steinhoff, Agrokor and DSB Bank.
Christiaan is a director of the International Insolvency Institute and a member of the committee on insolvency law that advises the Dutch government and parliament on matters pertaining to restructuring and insolvency. He is also a lecturer and member of the course committee for the Grotius/INSOLAD course, the foremost course on insolvency and restructuring in the Netherlands. Christiaan is ranked band 1 in Chambers restructuring and insolvency and in the ‘Hall of Fame’ in the Legal 500 restructuring and insolvency.
