Dirk leads Houthoff’s arbitration team and specialises in complex corporate law and commercial arbitrations and litigation. The majority of this work focuses on arbitration and other dispute settlement procedures with an international dimension. His clients are mostly Dutch, US and other international companies. Dirk represents clients in national and international commercial and investment arbitrations, under the auspices of the ICC, NAI, ICSID and other institutional rules, such as GAFTA, NZV, AVZ and FENEX. Dirk also acts as an arbitrator in ad hoc and institutional arbitrations, and as a deputy justice at the Dutch courts of appeal.

  • Houthoff advised Telia Company, together with Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, in connection with the divestment of its holding in Kcell and the dissolution of its Fintur partnership with Turkcell. Telia Company and Fintur Holdings B.V., which is jointly owned by Telia Company and Turkcell, have agreed to sell their 75% stake in the leading Kazakhstani telecommunications operator Kcell JSC to the telecom operator Kazakhtelecom JSC for USD 446 million. Telia Company has also signed an agreement to acquire Turkcell's 41.45% stake in Fintur, which will make it Fintur's sole shareholder.
  • The team is advising Vinci on its position in the GATE Terminal project in the Rotterdam port. The GATE Terminal is one of the world's largest LNG storage facilities.
