Orkla acquires significant portion of the shares in New York Pizza

A significant part of New York Pizza, one of the largest pizza chains in the Netherlands, will be sold to Orkla.

Orkla owns dozens of brands related to food products, snacks and personal care. The company will acquire 75% of the shares in the pizza chain, valued at EUR 145 million. The current shareholders will keep 25 percent. New York Pizza has 232 franchisee operated sales outlets with 229 of them in the Netherlands.

The acquisition is intended to strengthen and accelerate the growth of the pizza chain. The transaction is still subject to the approval from the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) and is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2021.

Houthoff advised Orkla on the acquisition. The team included Angenita Pex, Djotika Bissessur, Saskia Hoek-Van den Berg, Sylvia Dikmans, Chantal Pressili, Thomas de Weerd, Nina Scholten and Joris Verboon.
