Willem is partner in the Corporate/M&A practice group. He has extensive experience in complex cross-border M&A and capital markets transactions and is often involved in acquisitions of listed companies. He also advises both companies and investors on corporate governance, joint ventures, securities law compliance and general cross-border matters.

In 2012, Willem joined Houthoff and the Amsterdam Bar. In 2017, Willem worked as legal counsel in the Capital Markets/M&A department of Rabobank. From September 2021 – May 2022, Willem was seconded to Sullivan & Cromwell in New York.

  • Represented IMI Fabi S.p.A., a global talc manufacturer, in the completion of the purchase of the Elementis talc business from Elementis plc, a global specialty chemicals company.
  • Advises Lumileds International on a definitive agreement under which San’an Optoelectronics and Inari Amertron Berhad will acquire Lumileds Holding B.V. and its European and Asian subsidiaries.
  • Advised Corporation Service Company (CSC) and its subsidiary Intertrust, a large global corporate services provider with various licensed businesses across the globe (including an AIFMD depositary and trust office in the Netherlands), on legal regulatory matters in relation to Dutch AML and trust legislation.
