Expertises

EU
EU law has a huge impact on almost all sectors and businesses. In many sectors, fair competition in the internal EU market is ensured through highly detailed and complex regulations relating to market access, production processes and products and services offered on the market.
EU Litigation
Companies operating in the EU can be confronted with complex issues of EU law such as free movement rules, EU anti-fraud law, State aid, product regulations, sanctions and trade regulations. Overcoming these issues can involve complex interactions with EU institutions and the EU Courts.
Competition
We advise and assist national and international companies, institutions and governments in procedures before the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets, the European Commission, foreign competition authorities, and the relevant (specialised) courts.
Public Law
The growth in Dutch and European regulation has an effect on all sectors. The relationship between government bodies and market parties is governed by regulation in areas such as financial and other supervision, the environment, spatial planning, land, procurement, health and safety, and tax.
Agrifood
The innovative agrifood sector presents excellent opportunities for national and international investors. Increasing numbers of non-European parties are getting involved in the Dutch agrifood sector.
ESG & Sustainability
Behind the daily headlines on sustainability and environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues hide complex challenges such as permitting, subsidies, funding and reporting obligations. These matters affect the expectations and demands of all corporate stakeholders.
Healthcare
The healthcare sector is under pressure. Due to an ageing population and smarter but more expensive treatment methods, costs are increasing, while further rises in healthcare spending are frowned upon. That is why the government has introduced regulated market forces.
Health, Safety & Environment
Houthoff’s HSE Team advises and litigates on the full spectrum of HSE matters from civil, administrative and criminal law perspectives and offers 24/7 support and scalable expertise during incidents.
Life Sciences
The Life Sciences sector is rapidly growing all around the world. It's a sector where issues not only develop quickly but can also have a major social and economic impact. This can be seen in areas such as biotechnology and in the development of innovative medicines, medical devices and foodstuffs.
