Monica specialises in advising on and litigating matters concerning general administrative law, procedural administrative law, and spatial planning and zoning law. She has experience with different facets of administrative law. Before joining Houthoff, she worked at the Legal Service of the Netherlands Competition Authority (which on 1 April 2013 joined forces with other authorities to form the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets).

  • Advised Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets Core Limited on entering into a joint venture agreement with NTT Global Data Centers EMEA GmbH with respect to the ownership, operation and management of certain data centres in the Netherlands. 
  • Advised ZWIN B.V., Aletschwald B.V., Michel Kerres Management B.V. and KERAM OG B.V. on the sale of the Limburg BMW dealer group Keram (K2M Holding B.V. and its affiliates) and the real estate property owned by the group to Emil Frey (Ekris).
  • Assisted Credit Suisse Asset Management Global Real Estate in the acquisition of a newly developed distribution centre for Jumbo in Bleiswijk. The seller, Somerset, retains a 10% interest in the business.
  • Advised PFA Pension on the acquisition of the New Babylon commercial complex in The Hague from Icon Real Estate. The New Babylon has approx. 40,000 m2 of lettable floor area (LFA). Hannover Leasing represented PFA Pension in the transaction.
  • Advised Real I.S. on the acquisition and financing of five newly constructed distribution centres with a total area of 115,000 m² in Europoort Rotterdam from DHG for €142 million.
  • Advised Commerz Real on the sale of its office portfolio consisting of six office buildings to Tristan Capital Partners for approx. €370 million. Tristan Capital Partners has acquired the portfolio on behalf of its core-plus fund CCP 5 LL.
  • Advised a.s.r. real estate on the acquisition – on behalf of ASR Dutch Prime Retail Fund – of a retail portfolio from Phoenix Joint Venture C.V. with a total value of  approximately € 100 million.
  • Advised GIC, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, on the joint venture agreement with Equinix for more than USD 1 billion to develop and operate hyperscale data centres in Europe. The joint venture will acquire two operational data centres in London and Paris and plans to futher develop data centres in Amsterdam, Frankfurt (two sites) and London. Houthoff was co-counsel to Kirkland & Ellis on this transaction.
  • Advised La Salle Investment Management regarding the acquisition of the Bright Offices in Amsterdam. The acquisition took place on behalf of the French pension fund ERAFP, being the first acquisition for ERAFP on the Dutch Real Estate Market.
