Milking machine manufacturer GEA sold the Dutch Royal De Boer Stalinrichtingen and the French company Japy SAS. The German investment company Mutares SE&Co will be the new owner of the two companies.

Royal De Boer Stalinrichtingen B.V. is a leading barn equipment manufacturer based in Leeuwarden in the Netherlands and is an addition to Mutare's dairy products market portfolio. Japy SAS has its headquarters in Dijon in France and is a leading manufacturer of milk cooling tanks in Europe. In 2019, the combined turnover of Royal De Boer and Japy was around EUR 50 million, with Royal De Boer Stalinrichtingen turning over EUR 30 million. The two companies employ 230 people in total. GEA believes that the investment company Mutares has the appropriate means to further develop the two companies. Both companies intend to keep their own names which are already known in the market.

The divestment is in line with GEA's strategy to optimise its portfolio. GEA Farm Technologies aims to focus on automating and digitalising the milking process. At the same time, GEA wants more smart solutions for managing the livestock and products that improve the milk quality, and to focus on improving animal health.

Houthoff, in collaboration with Jeantet AARPI, assisted GEA in the sale of Royal De Boer Stalinrichtingen B.V. and Japy SAS to Mutares SE & Co. KGaA. The Houthoff team included Michiel Pannekoek, Philip van der Eijk, Jessica den Dekker, Alessia Ponticorvo, Philippe König, Wynand van Seters, Naomi Dempsey, Jeroen van Mourik, Chantal Presilli and Caroline Vos.
